Two Sisters in Blue Dresses
Attributed to Mrs. Moses B. Russell (Clarissa Peters) (1809-1854)
Probably Boston, Massachusetts, circa 1845-1852
Watercolor on ivory, in oval, 2 7/16 x 2 inches, with original engine-turned brass locket

Compositionally, this work is most closely related to the double portrait miniature of the Cunningham children, Helen and Arthur, which is illustrated in Randall L. Holton and Charles A. Gilday, “Mrs. Moses B. Russell, Boston Miniaturist,” Antiques, December 1999, pl. XVI, p. 821.
